Η AMD ανακοίνωσε τους νέους της επεξεργαστές Fusion A-Series “Llano” APUs (Accelerated Processing Units), οι οποίοι συνδυάζουν επεξεργαστή dual ή quad-core X86 (CPU) με ξεχωριστό επεξεργαστή γραφικών (GPU) στο ίδιο σύστημα.
Ουσιαστικά, είναι η σειρά επεξεργαστών 32nm που αναμέναμε από τον Ιανουάριο, όταν και είχαν ανακοινωθεί οι πρώτοι AMD Fusion APUs, και πρόκειται να χρησιμοποιηθούν σε desktops και notebooks για να ανταγωνιστούν τους αντίστοιχους Intel Sandy Bridge.
Η AMD ισχυρίζεται ότι η A-Series APUs έχουν πολύ υψηλότερη απόδοση στα γραφικά, καθώς εκτός από τον ενσωματωμένο επεξεργαστή γραφικών μπορούν να συνδυαστούν και με κάρτα γραφικών Radeon για 75% μεγαλύτερη απόδοση στα 3D γραφικά, σε παιχνίδια και videos. Επιπλέον, ο επεξεργαστής γραφικών της AMD μπορεί να υποστηρίξει και μη-γραφικές διαδικασίες (όπως physics ή γενικό προγραμματισμό).
Η AMD Fusion A-Series περιλαμβάνει επτά APUs με έως 4MB μνήμη cache, χρονισμό έως 1.9GHz στου dual-core A4 (έως 2.5GHz με την τεχνολογία AMD Turbo Core), υποστήριξη στερεοσκοπικού 3D, Full HD video 1080p, USB 3.0 controller, DirectX 11, OpenCL / OpenGL, AMD Wireless Display και μνήμη 1600MHz DDR3 / 1333MHz DDR3L.
