Σε λίγες μέρες αναμένουμε τον ερχομό του Kinect στην πλατφόρμα των Windows και τώρα φήμες θέλουν τη Microsoft να εργάζεται πάνω στην ενσωμάτωση της τεχνολογίας ανίχνευσης κίνησης σε φορητούς υπολογιστές.

Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της ιστοσελίδας ‘The Daily’, η εταιρεία έχει ήδη κατασκευάσει τους πρώτους πρωτότυπους φορητούς υπολογιστές της εξοπλισμένους με αισθητήρες Kinect.

Οι συσκευές αυτές είναι πιθανότατα (Asus) netbooks με λειτουργικό σύστημα Windows 8, μικροσκοπικούς αισθητήρες εκεί όπου βρίσκεται συνήθως η webcam και IR LEDs στο κάτω μέρος της οθόνης. Όπως επιβεβαίωσε η Microsoft, οι συσκευές αποτελούν πράγματι επίσημα πρωτότυπα laptops με αισθητήρες Kinect.

Όσον αφορά τη λειτουργικότητα, η τεχνολογία Kinect θα μπορούσε να βρει εκατοντάδες διαφορετικές εφαρμογές σε ένα φορητό υπολογιστή. Πέρα από το προφανές που ειναι το gaming, σκεφτείτε πόσες άλλες δυνατότητες θα μπορούσε να προσφέρει μια απλή κίνηση των χεριών ή των δαχτύλων όπως για παράδειγμα άνοιγμα εφαρμογών, εναλλαγή παραθύρων/εφαρμογών, χειρισμός λειτουργιών και πολλές άλλες.

Ενσωμάτωση αισθητήρων Kinect σε φορητούς υπολογιστές(;)

Πριν από λίγες ημέρες μάθαμε για την πρόθεση της AMD να λανσάρει την τεχνολογία Lightning Bolt, για να ανταγωνιστεί την ακριβότερη Thunderbolt της Intel, αλλά νέες φήμες θέλουν την εταιρία να ετοιμάζεται για γενικότερο πόλεμο με τον μεγάλο ανταγωνιστή της, φέρνοντας στην αγορά τα Ultrathin laptops, κατ’ αντιστοιχία με τα Ultrabooks.

Η AMD θα αντιγράψει και σε αυτή την περίπτωση τα βήματα της Intel, δηλαδή τα Ultrathins θα είναι laptops με εξαιρετικά λεπτό και ελαφρύ σχεδιασμό, αλλά θα προσφέρονται σε μικρότερη τιμή από τα Ultrabooks, με τη διαφορά να κυμαίνεται μεταξύ $100-$200. Έτσι, αν το πλαφόν της Intel είναι τα $1000, τότε θα περιμένουμε τιμολογήση στα $800.

Φυσικά, για να χαρακτηρίζεται ένα laptop ως Ultrathin θα πρέπει να πληροί τις παραπάνω προϋποθέσεις και να χρησιμοποιεί κάποιον από τους επόμενης γενιάς επεξεργαστές AMD Trinity, οι οποίοι θα κυκλοφορήσουν μέσα στους επόμενους μήνες.

Σύμφωνα με την ιστοσελίδα Digitimes, το πρώτο Ultrathin laptop θα παρουσιαστεί τον Ιούνιο και θα ακολουθήσουν ακόμα 20 μέχρι το τέλος της χρονιάς, αλλά κρατήστε μικρό καλάθι.

Όπως και να ‘χει, δεν είναι απίθανό στην CES 2013 να “πήξουμε” από πληθώρα laptops και θα τίθεται το ερώτημα “Ultrathin ή Ultrabook”, χωρίς κανείς να είναι σίγουρος ποιος από τους δύο (Intel ή AMD) κερδίζει…

Ultrathins, η απάντηση της AMD στα Ultrabooks της Intel (;)

Το πρώτο υβριδικό tablet/notebook που έγινε ευρέως γνωστό είναι το Asus Eee Pad Slider, το οποίο παρουσιάστηκε πέρυσι στην CES 2011, και έκτοτε ήταν λογικό ότι αρκετοί θα επιθυμούσαν να δημιουργήσουν τα δικά τους αντίστοιχα (βλ. Sony Freestyle Hybrid PC).

Η σκυτάλη πηγαίνει στην Toshiba, η οποία παρουσίασε στην CES 2012 το Toshiba Portege M930, με την ιδιαιτερότητα ότι εξακολουθεί να χρησιμοποιεί το ίδιο λειτουργικό σύστημα και στα δύο modes (notebook ή tablet).

Κατά τα άλλα, το Toshiba Portege M930 διαθέτει:

Εξάλλου, η Toshiba παρουσίασε και ένα πρωτότυπο Ultrabook 14” (1366 x 768) με λειτουργικό σύστημα Windows 8, επεξεργαστή Intel Core i3 1.3GHz, μνήμη RAM 4GB και αποθηκευτικό χώρο 128GB SSD, αλλά είναι σχεδόν σίγουρο ότι το τελικό προϊόν θα διαφέρει σημαντικά.

HP Envy 14 Spectre: Εντυπωσιακό Ultrabook με επικάλυψη Gorilla Glass και ήχο Beats Audio[CES 2012]

Η παρουσίαση της Intel στην CES 2012 κινήθηκε γύρω από το παρόν και το μέλλον των Ultrabooks, με την εταιρία να πιστεύει ότι φέτος θα είναι η χρονιά τους με περισσότερα από 75 νέα μοντέλα να κάνουν την εμφάνιση τους μέσα στο 2012.

Μεγαλύτερο ενδιαφέρον, πάντως, βρήκαμε στα concepts της εταιρίας για μελλοντικά Ultrabooks, με την Intel να οραματίζεται οθόνες αφής, NFC chips, επιταχυντόμετρα, αισθητήρες απόστασης, αναγνώριση χειρονομιών και γενικότερα διαχείριση του υπολογιστή χωρίς καν να τον αγγίζει ο χρήστης!

Από τα κορυφαία concepts είναι το Intel Nikiski, ένα εξαιρετικά λεπτό και ελαφρύ Windows 8 laptop με διάφανο touchpad που εκτείνεται σε ολόκληρη την περιοχή κάτω από το πληκτρολόγιο (εκεί που ακουμπάμε τα χέρια μας δηλαδή). Το εντυπωσιακό είναι ότι ο χρήστης μπορεί να χρησιμοποιήσει ολόκληρο το χώρο με τα δάκτυλα του, αλλά μόλις ακουμπήσει τις παλάμες του, αυτές αγνοούνται από το σύστημα!

Ακόμη, όταν ο χρήστης σβήνει τον υπολογιστή, ένα μέρος της οθόνης παρουσιάζει κάποια widgets από το λειτουργικό σύστημα Windows 8, τα οποία συνεχίζουν να ενημερώνονται και είναι ορατά επάνω στο διάφανο touchpad. Τέλος, σε περίπτωση που πατήσει επάνω σε κάποιο από τα widgets, τότε μόλις ανοίξει τον υπολογιστή θα μεταφερθεί στην αντίστοιχη εφαρμογή. Πάντως, φαντάζει μακρινή η μαζική παραγωγή του Intel Nikiski.

Στη συνέχεια, η Intel επικεντρώθηκε στο πως θα καταφέρει να ενσωματώσει στα Ultrabooks τεχνολογίες αφής και αισθητήρες που συναντάμε σε tablets ή smartphones, παρουσιάζοντας κάποια gaming notebooks οπου ο χρήστης μπορεί να μετακινεί την οθόνη π.χ. για να πάρει μια στροφή σε ένα παιχνίδι racing, ενώ κάποια άλλα διέθεταν αισθητήρα απόστασης και προσάρμοζαν την εικόνα ανάλογα με τη θέση του χρήστη.

Τέλος, παρουσίασε concepts από Ultrabooks με συρόμενο μηχανισμό, για μετατροπή από laptop σε tablet, οπότε η τεχνολογία αφής είναι πραγματικά χρήσιμη, αλλά και κάποια με αισθητήρες αναγνώρισης χειρονομιών, για διαχείριση του υπολογιστή χωρίς καν να υπάρχει επαφή.

Δε γνωρίζουμε πόσα από αυτά θα βρεθούν στα ράφια των καταστημάτων, αλλά η Intel φαίνεται αποφασισμένη να κατακτήσει τον κόσμο με τα Ultrabooks!

Σε ό,τι αφορά το U300e, αποτελεί μια αρκετά πιο προσιτή έκδοση του U300s που είχαμε δει παλαιότερα, και ο λόγος είναι ότι χρησιμοποιείται αποθηκευτικός χώρος 500GB HDD με 32GB μνήμη flash, αντί για 256GB SSD.

Lenovo IdeaPad U310/U410 Ultrabooks, νέα IdeaCentre AiOs desktops και πολλά ακόμη [CES 2012]

Η Acer ξεκινά την παρουσία της CES 2012 με τρεις ανακοινώσεις για δύο Ultrabooks, τα Acer Aspire S5 και Acer Timeline Ultra, και μία δωρεάν cloud υπηρεσία για όλα τα προϊόντα της, την AcerCloud!

Ας τα δούμε αναλυτικότερα:

Acer Aspire S5

Μετά το Acer Aspire S3 που γνωρίσαμε στην IFA 2011, η συνέχεια έρχεται με το λεπτότερο Ultrabook στον κόσμο, σύμφωνα με τα λεγόμενα της εταιρίας, το οποίο έχει πάχος μόλις 15mm στο φαρδύτερο σημείο του και ζυγίζει 1.35kg.

Στα αξιοσημείωτα, συμπεριλαμβάνεται η τεχνολογία Acer Always Connect για εμφάνιση των updates από social networks (Facebook, Twitter) και emails όταν βρίσκεται σε standby mode (αναμονή), ενώ ο χρήστης μπορεί να “ξυπνήσει” τον υπολογιστή και από το smartphone του μέσα σε μόλις 1.5sec.

Κατά τα άλλα, διαθέτει οθόνη 13.3”, επεξεργαστή Intel Core (δεν διευκρινίζεται ποιος), αποθηκευτικό χώρο SSD (άγνωστο μέγεθος), υποδοχές HDMI, USB 3.0 και Thunderbolt (κρυμμένες στο MagicFlip I/O port panel πίσω από την οθόνη), ήχο Dolby Home Theater v4, μπαταρία PowerSmart (3x μεγαλύτερη αυτονομία από ανταγωνιστικές μπαταρίες) και πληκτρολόγιο chiclet.

Acer Timeline Ultra

Πρόκειται για δύο μοντέλα 14.1” και 15.6”, με πάχος μόλις 20mm, αν και διαθέτουν DVD-Super multi drive, επεξεργαστή Intel Core, ξεχωριστή κάρτα γραφικών για 3D gaming, επιλογή για αποθηκευτικό χώρο HDD ή SSD, υποδοχές HDMI και USB 3.0 (όχι Thunderbolt εδώ), ήχο Dolby Home Theater v4 και μπαταρία PowerSmart με αυτονομία 8 ώρες.

Όπως και στο Acer Aspire S5, συμπεριλαμβάνεται η τεχνολογία Acer Always Connect και η λειτουργία instant-on για “ξύπνημα” από την αναμονή και από το smartphone του χρήστη σε μόλις 1.5sec.

Θα κυκλοφορήσουν μέσα στο πρώτο τρίμηνο του 2012 σε άγνωστη μέχρι στιγμής τιμή.

AcerCloud

Τέλος, η εταιρία ανακοίνωσε την cloud υπηρεσία AcerCloud για πρόσβαση στους υπολογιστές από οπουδήποτε και συγχρονισμό των δεδομένων του χρήστη. Η υπηρεσία θα κάνει το ντεμπούτο της με τα Acer Aspire S5 και Acer Timeline Ultra, αλλά θα συμπεριληφθεί σε όλα τα PCs της εταιρίας από το δεύτερο τρίμηνο του 2012.

Η υπηρεσία AcerCloud εκμεταλλεύται το σύστημα WiFi για το ξύπνημα του υπολογιστή μέσω του Acer Always Connect και δίνει στο χρήστη τη δυνατότητα να ανοίξει τον υπολογιστή του από απόσταση ώστε να έχει πρόσβαση στα αρχεία του.

Για παράδειγμα, η λειτουργία PicStream δίνει πρόσβαση στις φωτογραφίες του υπολογιστή μέσα από το smartphone, με τον χρήστη να μπορεί να τις μοιράζεται online για 30 ημέρες, όπως στο iCloud της Apple, ενώ με τη λειτουργία AcerCloud Docs μπορεί να μοιράζεται αρχεία Office από το cloud, να τα επεξεργάζεται και να παρακολουθεί τις όποιες μεταβολές από άλλους χρήστες.

Τέλος, αρκετοί θα θυμάστε την πλατφόρμα Acer clear.fi, που εγκαινίασε η εταιρία το Νοέμβριο του 2010, η οποία μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί για streaming περιεχομένου μέσω cloud ή για download κάποιου αρχείου σε φορητή συσκευή για offline χρήση. Πλέον, έχει ενσωματωθεί στο AcerCloud, αλλά αρχικά θα απαιτείται συσκευή Android για να λειτουργήσει.

Όπως προαναφέραμε, το Lenovo X1 Hybrid χρησιμοποιεί δύο λειτουργικά συστήματα, καθώς εκτός του Windows 7 η εταιρία έχει τοποθετήσει και ένα Android-based OS που ενεργοποιείται για τη λειτουργία Instant Media Mode (βασικές λειτουργίες και πρόσβαση στο Internet), με τη μετάβαση να γίνεται και μέσα από τα Windows.

Για την υποστήριξη του δεύτερου συστήματος, έχει τοποθετηθεί ξεχωριστός επεξεργαστής dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz, με 1GB RAM και 16GB ξεχωριστό αποθηκευτικό χώρο. Να σημειωθεί ότι κατά τη μετάβαση στο Android-based OS, η αυτονομία του X1 Hybrid αυξάνεται κατά 80%!

Z330: Super Ultrabook™ that Outshines Ordinary Ultrabooks

The Z330 is the most compact product in LG’s newest Super Ultrabook™ Series, boasting vastly superior features above and beyond Intel’s Ultrabook™ requirements, while remaining attractive in both performance and portability.

In terms of performance, LG’s proprietary Super Speed Boot technology enables rapid booting, roughly three times faster than other 13-inch notebooks in the market. Powered by the second generation Intel? CoreTM i7 processor, the Z330 requires less than 10 seconds to complete booting, while it requires a mere two seconds to recover from stand-by mode.
