Η Nikon ανακοίνωσε τις δύο νέες point-and-shoot φωτογραφικές μηχανές της, Coolpix S02 και Coolpix P7800, ή αλλιώς τους διαδόχους των περσινών μοντέλων Coolpix S01 και P7700 αντίστοιχα.

Ξεκινώντας από την Coolpix S02, είναι μια φωτογραφική μηχανή που παρότι δεν εντυπωσιάζει με τα τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά της  αποτελεί ό,τι μικρότερο και ελαφρύτερο κυκλοφορεί στην κατηγορία της. Διαθέτει 13.2-megapixel CMOS αισθητήρα, 2.7" touchscreen οθόνη, δυνατότητα λήψης video 1080p και 3x 30-90mm f/3.3-5.9 φακό. Ένα μειονέκτημα είναι ότι το μικροσκοπικό της μέγεθος δεν αφήνει περιθώριο για αποσπώμενη μπαταρία ή επέκταση μνήμης οπότε οι ενδιαφερόμενοι θα πρέπει να αρκεστούν σε χωρητικότητα 7.3GB. Η νέα φωτογραφική μηχανή θα κυκλοφορήσει μέσα στο Σεπτέβριο σε ασημί, άσπρο, ροζ και μπλε χρώμα και τιμή $180.

Η δεύτερη και σαφώς ανώτερη φωτογραφική μηχανή της Nikon έρχεται με 1/1.7-inch 12.2MP BSI CMOS αισθητήρα, 7.1x 28-200mm f/2-4 φακό, 3" 921k-dot RGBW LCD οθόνη και 921k-dot EVF (ηλεκτρονικό viewfinder) που αποτελεί και τη σημαντικότερη προσθήκη σε σχέση με το περσινό μοντέλο. Η Coolpix P7800 διαθέτει επίσης δυνατότητα καταγραφής video 1080/30p, 8fps shooting mode για μέχρι 6 συνεχόμενες λήψεις, ISO 80-3200 και manual control.
